Summer Swim Gear
FAST team store and gear recommendations
Hey FAST Families,
I have gotten a few questions about team gear needed for the summer season so I figured I would make the new website's first news post about swim gear. This post is targeted at newer families but it may be useful to some of our long time summer swim families as well.
The first thing I would like to mention is that our brand new SwimOutlet store is live and everything that you will need for the summer season can be purchased through that store. You can search on our team store or go through all of the SwimOutlet's website for your summer swim gear, every purchase made through that store will help support our team. Our team store link can be found HERE or on the bottom of our website home page.
Suits:
Team Suit: We would like as many families as possible to have either a plain navy suit, navy and gold suit, or a FAST team suit to wear for swim meets. I know that it is not always possible for every swimmer to have this at every meet but it helps our team feel very cohesive when we all show up for our meets in the same uniform.
Practice Suit: It is generally a good idea to have a separate practice suit and meet suit but is not required. This helps your team suit last longer and stay fresh for for the swim meets. If you were to get a separate practice suit, Sporti and Speedo are the brands that you should probably stick to. Sporti suits are a great value while Speedo suits are a bit more expensive and higher quality. Either one will work perfectly for the summer season.
Important suit note for girls: Please have all girls wear one piece swimsuits to both practices and meets. 2 piece suits or suits that show the stomach will not be permitted at any swim practices or swim meets.
Goggles:
Very similar to the suits, the Sporti goggles will provide great value while Speedo goggles will be a higher quality. Both are perfect options for a summer season. The ones I would recommend are on the team store home page but any goggle that does not have a nose cover will work fine. Additionally, it is usually a good idea to keep an extra pair of goggles in your swim bag in case one breaks.
Swim Caps:
Team Cap: All FAST Swimmers without a team cap already will receive one in the beginning of the summer. A team cap is required for each swimmer at each swim meet. Additional team caps can be purchased from me for $15 per cap.
Practice Cap: Similar to the suits, I recommend that swimmers use a separate cap for practices and meets if your swimmer wishes to practice in a swim cap. This is not necessary though and is completely up to you, it will just help the team cap last longer as they have a tendency to rip after heavy use. I always recommend silicone caps over the latex ones, the latex caps are cheaper but are less durable and are far less comfortable (at least for me)
Important cap note for swimmers with long hair: Please have all swimmers with longer hair come to each practice with a swim cap. Long hair can be a distraction to swimmers while in practice.
Team Merch:
2024 FAST T-Shirts: (please note that all swimmers will receive one 2024 FAST shirt in the beginning of the summer)
You can view our 2024 FAST Shirts HERE for any family or friends who would like to purchase a tee shirt and help support our team. You can also place a name on the back or sleeve of the shirt to show support to your swimmers!
Car Magnet:

Other Gear:
Towels are very important for swimmers to bring. Usually one towel for practices and two towels for the swim meets. Any towel is fine, there is no need to overthink which towel brand to get.
Other gear for swimmers may include fins, kickboards, or pull buoys. None of these items are necessary as we have lots of gear at the pool for our swimmers to use.
